Your mortgage in four simple steps
No jargon. We guide you from first conversation to the keys in your hand.
Initial consultation
Tell us about your situation and goals. A friendly, no-obligation conversation — phone, video or in person. Your initial consultation is free of charge.
We search the market
We compare 100s of lenders across the whole market to find the deal that genuinely fits your circumstances.
We submit your application
We prepare and submit your mortgage application and liaise with the lender and the other parties involved on your behalf. At this stage the lender will carry out its underwriting, a valuation of the property will be arranged, and your conveyancer will begin the legal work and searches. Some of the paperwork will be handled by your conveyancer, the lender and other third parties rather than by us. We will keep you updated as your case progresses.
Through to completion
Where your application is successful, the lender issues a mortgage offer and we support you through to completion. Timescales vary depending on your circumstances and those of everyone involved in the transaction. We are still here for your remortgage and protection review down the line.
The NexMoney difference
We're not a comparison website. We're real advisors who get to know your situation and find the mortgage that's truly right for you.
We save you time
Instead of spending hours calling banks or comparing websites, we do the legwork — searching hundreds of deals across the whole market to find the best option for your circumstances.
FCA Registered — you're protected
We are an Appointed Representative of Stonebridge Mortgage Solutions Ltd, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We are entered on the Financial Services Register under firm reference number 610875.
Personal, dedicated service
You'll usually work with one dedicated adviser who gets to know your case, so you have a single point of contact who understands your circumstances. Occasionally a case may be passed to a colleague, for example during annual leave. We are often available outside of normal office hours too.
Exclusive deals & referral rewards
We sometimes have access to rates that are not available directly from lenders. Plus, refer a friend and earn £50 worth of vouchers through our Share the Love programme. Terms and conditions apply.
Transparent fees
We are upfront about costs and explain everything before you commit to anything.
Typically, we charge a fee of £375 for arranging a mortgage but will also depend on your circumstances. The fees may be waived subject to the terms of the fee waiver agreement.

Mortgage Questions
Answered
Not sure where to start? Here are the questions we're asked most often — or visit our full FAQ page for more.
How much can I borrow for a mortgage?
Most lenders will let you borrow between 4 and 4.5 times your annual income, though some will go up to 5 or 5.5 times for professionals and higher earners. Joint applicants can combine incomes. Lenders also weigh up your outgoings, debts, and credit history. Use our mortgage calculator for a quick estimate.
What deposit do I need to buy a house?
The minimum deposit is 5% of the property's value for most residential mortgages. A 10% or larger deposit unlocks better rates. First-time buyers can use the Lifetime ISA or Shared Ownership to boost their savings. Buy-to-let investors typically need at least 25%.
Can I get a mortgage with bad credit?
Yes — it depends on the type and age of the credit issue. Minor blemishes like a missed payment often have little impact, especially after three years. More serious issues like CCJs or IVAs require specialist lenders. NexMoney has experience placing clients with adverse credit and knows which lenders to approach.
What is a whole-of-market mortgage broker?
A whole-of-market broker searches hundreds of lenders — not just a limited panel — to find the most competitive deal for your circumstances. NexMoney is whole-of-market, which means we're not tied to any lender, and our advice is always in your best interest.
How does a mortgage broker get paid?
Brokers earn a commission from the lender (called a procuration fee) when your mortgage completes, and may charge you a broker fee. NexMoney's typical fee is £375, always disclosed upfront. On many remortgages there is no fee to you at all. We're fully transparent about our fees before you commit.
